An interview with Barbara Barker
- How do you see God at work at RA?
I see lives changing and opportunities given to rescue children from the curse of this generation. I see opportunities for the children to see life as it is, and not be stuck in the darkness. The fruit may not be evident immediately but it will bear fruit in the future.
- What is your favorite thing about the school?
The people committed to minister here. The staff makes this their ministry of focus. The luncheons are successful because the guests see the passionate focus of the staff and their dedication for the childrens lives to change.
- Tell me about a specific powerful encounter with a child that impacted you.
It took a few weeks to gain their trust, but I was able to develop relationships with the older girls in my Bible Study. Through their prayer cards and the sharing they do with me, it breaks my heart to know what difficult circumstances and broken homes some of them come from.
- Why should other people support RA?
It is the great injunction from God we are to consider the oppressed, poor and weak. It is true religion to help the widows and orphans. If anyone has material possessions and sees his brother in need but has no pity on him, how can the love of God be in him? Dear children, let us not love with words or tongue but with actions and in truth. 1 John 3:17-18
